Ha! I almost missed "Orm the Strong"! Yet another pleasing allusion by S.M. Stirling to Anderson's THE BROKEN SWORD. And I saw a Lt. Dominique FLANDRY in THE PROTECTOR'S WAR. I like these Stirlingian allusions to Anderson!
Now I'm no sure, either way! The description of the Orm mentioned in Chapter 17 of your book added to the link Paul gave me think it was a different Orm from the one in Anderson's book.
I did, and I still think the "Orm the Strong" mentioned in Chapter Seventeen of LORD OF MOUNTAINS is a different Orm from the one we see in THE BROKEN SWORD.
I also read my own comments in "Seidh II" and still agree with them, esp. about implausibly nice neo-paganism is compared to how GRIM the ancient pagan cults could be. I concluded that, like it or not, Christianity has deeply influenced our current neo-pagans.
Sean, All religions influence each other. I think Christianity influenced "Krishna Consciousness." A Jewish layman who showed me and fellow students round a synagogue said that sometimes the Rabbi, having read from the Torah scroll, holds it uo for the congragation to see and he compared this to the Elevation of the Host. Oops! I checked both the link you gave and LORD OF MOUNTAINS. And this was a DIFFERENT Orm from the one seen in THE BROKEN SWORD. Mea culpa!
