Throughput

I have just returned from the gym, an opportunity for simultaneous physical exercise and creative thinking. I return with perhaps two further reflections on recent posts.

Isaac Asimov wrote somewhere that every new input to his brain was automatically processed to see if it would yield a Black Widowers story. A guy I knew met Asimov and said to him that he thought that, if AIs could be created, then they would be the true aliens. Asimov replied, "Yes... I might get a story out of that..."

Similarly, every new input to my brain is processed for blogging material. I do not have to be reading Poul Anderson. A contemporary novel by another author can suggest questions about aspects of society in the Solar Commonwealth or the Terran Empire. Hence, recent posts on communication and trade unions.

Secondly, I think that there is a conceptual error here and will address it in another post.

Kaor, Paul!

I simply can't REMEMBER the name of a fairly old story by Poul Anderson involving AIs of some kind. It's story where two AIs communicate with each other. At least I think it was by PA. Every now and then I remember this and again I feel frustrated!

Hmmm,I took a closer look at the illustration and I have to say I've never thought before of adorning a POOL with coats of arms!

Kaor, Paul!

The arms of the family who paid for the pool?

Sean,
Well, no. The pool was build by the holiday company that now owns Thurnham Hall so I expect that the arms are associated via the Hall with its previous owners.
