Relevant Reading

Other reading remains relevant. While discussing motivations, we mentioned other mental functions, including mathematics. Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander has a flair for mathematics and independently solves Fermat's Theorem. I own a copy of Logicomix about Bertrand Russell (see image) which features Russell's student, Wittgenstein. Mathematics is one major part of science as Poul Anderson pointed out here. The origin of science is relevant to science fiction which is why sf writer James Blish wrote a historical novel about Roger Bacon. So the moral is: read Poul Anderson and all these other guys as well!

Kaor, Paul!

And in his short story "Delenda Est," Poul Anderson had Manse Everard stressing the Christian role in science being possible at all. The philosophers he cited being Whitehead and Mumford.
