Poul Anderson, All One Universe (New York, 1996).
Immediately after "Wellsprings of Dream," and the concluding item in the volume, is "The Voortrekkers." See also here. This story incorporates one of the concepts summarized in "Wellspring..."
Immediately before "Wellspring...," is "The Visitor." This was the story that I referred to here.
All One Universe also includes appreciations of:
John Campbell
Rudyard Kipling
Johannes V Jensen
There is also a prehistoric story, an alternative history story and an Old Phoenix story. See also here.

Kaor, Paul!
And ALL ONE UNIVERSE includes a story, "Strangers," which has stuck in my mind. CAN an intelligent race be so short lived that human beings look like immortal elves to them? I don't see how that would WORK unless children in that race came to adulthood with amazing speed (months instead of years?).
And of course the other stories and articles in that book deserves to be read over and over.

Kaor, Sean!
Perhaps the humans have longevity treatments.

Kaor, Nicholas!
That is indeed possible. However, the non human narrator does mention how one of the humans was an old man. True, that might have been because a life extending treatment was "wearing off." But no mention is made of any such thing in "Strangers."
I suspect the humans we see in "Strangers" were somehow stranded on this only marginally human habitable planet.
Regards! Sean
