Time Travel Volumes

The Complete Works of Poul Anderson could include:

Past Times: Revised Edition, at least seven time travel short stories;
Time Travel, three time travel novels;
Time Patrol, nine Time Patrol stories of different lengths;
The Shield Of Time, the Time Patrol novel and concluding short story.

However, I have previously classified:

Past Times and The Corridors Of Time with The Boat Of A Million Years and one other collection as works of fiction each set in various past periods;
There Will Be Time with the three Maurai stories and Orion Shall Rise as the Maurai future history;
The Dancer From Atlantis with Conan The Rebel and The Golden Slave as "the three BC."

Internet publishing could give readers a choice as to how they wanted the volumes printed out.

Hi, Paul!

Just a bit off topic, but I esp. like Frank Frazetta's jacket painting for THE DANCER FROM ATLANTIS. One of the best book covers or jacket paintings I've seen for one of Poul Anderson's books.

Sean,
Not of topic! Cover illustrations introduce the books and are reproduced on this blog. If anyone were able to write an in depth analysis of the covers' aesthetic and artistic qualities, that would be very welcome.

Hi, Paul!

Thanks! And I agree, if some artistically literate person was to write an essay discssing how the works of Poul Anderson were illustrated in their covers or jacket paintings, I would be interested. But I think we both agree the Baen Books covers for YOUNG FLANDRY, CAPTAIN FLANDRY, and SIR DOMINIC FLANDRY are appallingly bad. Esp. the hideous cover for SIR DOMINIC FLANDRY.

Sean,
Please don't keep reminding me of those Baen Books covers!

Hi, Paul!

Oops! Ha! Sorry! Just to console both of us, I only need to point out how vastly better, even beautiful, are the jacket covers commissioned by NESFA Press for the collections of short stories by PA that it has been reprinting. The one which came immediately to mind being the jacket for CALL ME JOE.
