Poul Anderson, The Corridors Of Time (London, 1968).
Wine contains a euphoriac. Music includes subsonics. Colors shift hypnotically. The diaglossa teaches dance steps. Ritualistically used potions and incenses open the door to Her presence in everything. Losing the thread of the conversation, Lockridge listens as if to music.
Hu and Lockridge fly over endless parkland with no cities. A tower marked by an ankh is an industrial plant visited only by technicians. The palace roofs and spires are like an immense waterfall.
Clearly this is a synopsis but Anderson's description is itself brief. We have been told all that we need to know before Lockridge is sent to the antithetical domain of the Rangers, described in previous posts.
