More Differences

SM Stirling, Conquistador (New York, 2004), Chapter Seventeen.

New Virginian women's bikinis are conservative by FirstSide standards.

The nudity taboo has stayed stronger there. (We should be able to predict such details by now.)

New FirstSider films "'...are too likely to be just disgusting, or not make any sense - so the Theatre Guild has to reissue the old ones a lot...'" (pp.436-437)

Sandra, a New Virginian, liked the Mummy, Harry Potter and the Ring films, but even those are years ago now.

New Virginia has too small a population and too limited a talent pool to make its own films.

How films have changed FirstSide:

in Superman: the Movie (1978), Kal-El said with a straight face that he had come from Krypton to fight for "Truth, Justice and the American Way";

in Superman Returns (2006), the Daily Planet Editor asked his reporters to find out whether the returned Superman still stands for "Truth, Justice...all that stuff?";

in The Man of Steel (2013), Superman kills the main villain and tells a US general to stop spying on him, destroying the spy satellite for good measure.

We can predict that New Virginian film sensibilities will not have moved much beyond 1978.

Kaor, Paul!

I can't really say I disagree entirely with the New Virginians distaste for more recent films or TV shows. Many of them ARE disgusting, after all.
