Two Main Future Histories

Robert Heinlein's Future History, Volume I, The Man Who Sold The Moon, is named after DD Harriman, the entrepreneur who got mankind into space.

Poul Anderson's History of Technic Civilization, Volume I, Trader To The Stars, is named after Nicholas van Rijn, a leading interstellar entrepreneur.

Anderson's The Technic Civilization Saga, Volume I, The Van Rijn Method, re-presenting the Technic History in chronological order of fictional events, is also named after van Rijn.

Heinlein's Future History, Volume II, The Green Hills Of Earth, covers a period of interplanetary colonization and exploitation.

Anderson's Technic History, Volume VI or VII (depending on exactly how we count them), The Earth Book Of Stormgate, covers the Polesotechnic League period of interstellar trade and exploitation.

Thus, we find some strong parallels. One difference is that the Future History concludes at the beginning of faster than light interstellar travel.
