Religious Questions

Might some Kdaptists convert to Christianity? It would seem a logical next step. (Kdaptists are kzinti who believe that God made Man in His own image because Men kept winning.)

Might some Ythrians of the New Faith despise Christ for not fighting God? Or alternatively regard endurance of crucifixion as the ultimate fight? Might some Ythrians of the Old Faith accept Christ's sacrifice as ultimate, transcending their own bloody rituals?

Might Axor bring about a synthesis of Jerusalem Catholicism with an alien faith also centered on belief in a divine incarnation?

I think that zazen is in principle beneficial for all human beings although in practice most people either see no point to it or do not practice regularly but how could I know what would be beneficial for a being with an alien psychology?

Any Ythrians who despised Christ like that would be MISUNDERSTANDING Christianity, because Christians believe Him to be God as well as man. The other two alternative Ythrian reactions to Christianity would be truer, more accurate. Except I would have added Christ did not fight the Father, but accepted His will.

In a way, I discussed what you said about Fr. Axor in my article "God and Alien in Anderson's Technic Civilization." I quoted from a source which speculated about the possibility other, non human races would have their own Catholic Churches.

Sean,

As we know, religious images and ideas can be endlessly reinterpreted so my question is really just: Might some Ythrians interpret Christianity in this way? Not: Would their interpretations fit with earlier Christian views?

Yes, some Ythrians, esp. those who did not make a careful study of orthodox Christianity, could interpret or understand Christianity in the ways you suggested. I simply don't believe they would be very accurate.
