War In Art And Life II

What did I miss about World War II here?

HG Wells predicted World Wars I and II.

Instead of WW I, II and III, SM Stirling's Draka have the Great War, the Eurasian War and the Final War.

CS Lewis' Perelandra was written and published during World War II:

"'...the two sides, as you call them, have begun to appear much more clearly, much less mixed, here on Earth, in our own human affairs - to show in something a little more like their true colours.'
"'I see that all right.'"
-CS Lewis, Perelandra IN Lewis, The Cosmic Trilogy (London, 1990), pp. 145-348 AT p. 162.

Thus, Lewis, like Anderson in Three Hearts And Three Lions, links the War to a vaster conflict.

Kaor, Paul!

Except, unfortunately, the better side in WW II did ally with that monster Stalin and the USSR. My view is that the UK and US did not need to ally with Stalin, esp. after Hitler was fool enough to attack the USSR. Let the Germans and Russians tear each other apart while the UK/US concentrated on attacking Germany from the west. Btw, that was also Solzhnenitsyn's view in THE GULAG ARCHIPELAGO. All that aid given by the UK/US to the USSR merely strengthened a monstrous regime and made it more likely to survive WW II.
