Van Rijn eavesdrops:
"...he had worn a button in his ear, hidden by the ringlets... It was a transistorized sound amplifier, patterned after hearing aids from the period before regenerative techniques were developed." (David Falkayn: Star Trader, p. 528)
I need two hearing aids and hide them with long hair. It is good to read about a time when they will no longer be necessary - and when van Rijn is able to put one to practical use.
Increasingly, Avalonian human beings who join choths stop wearing clothes and instead "dress up" with skin paint. However, lacking feathers, they need to wear coveralls and boots for cold flights. Even Ythrians usually wear a belt and pouch. Arinnian of Stormgate Choth, whose human name is Christopher Holm, wears short hair for gravbelt flying and applies antigrowth enzyme to prevent a beard.
No need for hearing aids or shaving! The same probably also applies to glasses or contact lenses and artificial limbs. Oh to live in the future and on Avalon.

Kaor, Paul!
Well, not all human members of Ythrian choths made such an ostentatious point about going nude. Tabitha Falkayn, for example, was quite willing to dress in normal human style.
I agree! I too would be glad, to correct my own defective hearing with regenerative treatment of my ears. And the same for my eyes. And we are seeing experimental steps being taken NOW in cloning. But, alas, I don't expect cloning to be practical for us in our lifetimes.
