SM Stirling, Conan: Blood Of The Serpent (London, 2023).
The Conan Chronology is complicated.
This Titan edition of Stirling's novel also includes Robert E. Howard's shorter novel, Red Nails, to which Stirling's novel is a prequel.
Blood Of The Serpent begins with non-stop action: two fights inside a tavern and another while walking away from it. After that, there is development of the characters and their setting. Some chapter sections are narrated from Valeria's point of view instead of from Conan's.
We have read to the end of Part One (of Four) of Blood... and will shortly break off first to eat, then to attend a meditation group.
Conan invokes:
"'Lir and Manannan mac Lir!'" (p. 105)
- two deities that we know from Poul Anderson's works. Names of gods, countries and peoples in the Hyborian Age are an arbitrary mix of names that we know from later history.
We apologize for our abruptness.

Kaor, Paul!
Regrettably, Howard was nowhere as accurate in describing historical or mythological settings as Anderson and Stirling were in the stories they wrote not set in the Conan mythos.
Ad astra! Sean
