Atlantis is Delta Capitis Lupi B I, 3. Thus, it is the third satellite of the first planet of the lesser member of a double star system which is the fourth brightest star in the Nerthusian constellation, the Wolf's Head.
The Atlanteans, all human and female, speak archaic Basic.
Basic, the language of all human-settled extra-solar planets, was invented in the Solar System before faster than light interstellar flight and is one of the few links between the earlier and later periods of Poul Anderson's Psychotechnic History.
Davis Bertram is a Messiah not recognized as such:
"'It's well understood that the Men will come in all their power and glory.'" (p. 56)
Davis came alone, was easily captured and has been stripped and caged. Invited to fertilize a Maiden in from of a watching crowd, he has declined. Obviously, he is not a Man and therefore is a Monster.

Kaor, Paul!
VIRGIN PLANET was often a funny story, with Anderson in some good natured humor at Davis' expense, landing on a planet full of women and not having any luck with any of them!
Ad astra! Sean
Sean: not only that, the two women end up throwing dice to determine who gets him...
Kaor, Mr. Stirling!
Ha, I remember that! It was funny having Corporal Maiden Barbara Whitley and her clone sister throwing dice to decide which of them got to keep the Monster. Davis Bertram was too fond of both of them to pick one or the other!
Ad astra! Sean
