Rise Of The Terran Empire

Poul Anderson's Rise Of The Terran Empire collects:

Mirkheim
"Wingless"
"Rescue on Avalon"
"The Star Plunderer"
"Sargasso of Lost Starships"
The People Of The Wind

In The People Of The Wind:

Tabitha Falkayn refers to David Falkayn who last appeared in Mirkheim and to Manuel I who appeared once in "The Star Plunderer" and was referred back to in "Sargasso of Lost Starships";

Daniel Holm says that his ancestors came to Avalon with David Falkayn - we had seen David's son and grandson on Avalon in "Wingless" and an Ivar Holm on Avalon in "Rescue on Avalon."

Thus, all six works are fully integrated as a future history. However, it must also be emphasized that each of the works is worth reading in its own right. In particular, Mirkheim and People... are excellent hard sf novels, making colonized planets seem as real as Earth.
