Stupor Mundi

(100th post for February. I will try to call this a round number for a while.)

Poul Anderson, The Shield Of Time (New York, 1991).

Stupor Mundi (Amazement of the World) is one more piece of Latin in the Time Patrol series, along with peregrinator temporis and delenda est.

The Shield Of Time, Book Six, "Amazement Of The World," is the most complicated installment yet in terms of periods and points of view. To begin with, we have:

Emil Volstrup in 1137alpha AD;
Keith Denison in 1765 BC-15,926 BC-1765 BC;
Denison in 1980alpha AD;
Manson Everard in 18,244 BC;
Wanda Tamberly in 1989alpha AD;
Everard in 1137 AD;
Everard in 1137alpha AD -

- and the narrative continues, also involving a beta timeline. Of those four viewpoint characters, three are already familiar to us -

- and I am just about to do something else. See you soon.
