Targovi And A Merseian

The Game Of Empire, CHAPTER NINETEEN.

Inter-species interactions continue. The Tigery Targovi converses with the Wodenite Axor, then, after some expert stalking and surveillance, kills an unnamed Merseian. In these circumstances, the brute fact of a severed Merseian head is sufficient proof of Zacharian, and Magnussonian, collusion with the enemy. However, Targovi absconds not only with the ghastly green head but also with computer discs. Now all that remains is for him and his companions to escape from Zacharia. Then the game will be up, the Rebellion will be sabotaged, the case will be closed, the God will temper the steel of the Race by adversity, according to Tachwyr. In fact, on reflection at this point in the narrative, maybe the real God - assuming that there is one, of course - is tempering the Merseians to take their proper place as just one race among many? How can we discern the will of God - assuming that there is one - except by judging what we think is right?

Kaor, Paul!

I certainly agree it would be very desirable if the Merseians gave up their ideology of racial supremacism!

People tend to project their conceptions onto their "God" and then think it's confirmed because it's reflected back at them.

Kaor, Mr. Stirling!

That is what has happened with many religions.
