I have not kept up with the vast volume of recent and contemporary sf. The Multiverse contributors are extremely impressive. Each seems to have written many multi-volumed series. In this, they follow in Poul Anderson's footsteps. There are even two series by different authors in which an inhabited area of the Earth's surface is moved to a historical period. I had to check and confirm that this was the case: two series; two authors; two geographical areas; two periods.
I suspect that Anderson's body of work on time travel alone has yet to be matched or surpassed - although one impressive addition to this sub-genre was The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.
David Brin's contribution to Multiverse is not a new story set in an Andersonian universe but an older work by Brin that he has massively revised and rewritten, following advice from Anderson. And, after a long day of other activities, I am now beginning to read "Latecomers." Posting about Multiverse will continue for a while.
