I have argued before that there should be a boxed set of uniform editions of:
Three Hearts And Three Lions
Operation Otherworld (in either one or two volumes)
A Midsummer Tempest
The Old Phoenix and other universes (a proposed title and collection)
Contents Of The Proposed Collection
"The House of Sorrows" (an alternative universe)
"Eutopia" (travel between alternative universes)
"House Rule" (the inn between the universes)
"Losers' Night" (again the inn but this time referring to characters from the previous three (or four) volumes - see Disappearance - and ending with Winston Churchill!
It is all there.

Kaor, Paul!
I would prefer to do it like this:
OPERATION CHAOS and OPERATION LUNA in one volume.
THREE HEARTS AND THREE LIONS plus A MIDSUMMER TEMPEST in the second volume.
A third volume collects "The House of Sorrows," "Eutopia," "House Rule," and "Losers' Night." Including, possibly, Anderson's essay "The Discovery of the Past." But will only five items be enough for a volume?
Ad astra! Sean
They would.
Kaor, Paul!
I hope some editors and publishers will agree.
And why the Tarnation isn't whoever manages Poul Anderson's estate trying harder to keep his works in print??? I still see too many of Asimov's overrated stuff whenever I go to Barnes & Noble--and nothing by Anderson!

Note that the Churchillian appearance is from the mid to late 1930's, when Churchill was a voice crying in the wilderness -- but later on, he was PM during WW2.
Very true. Churchill was a "Loser" at the time.
Kaor, Mr. Stirling!
It was largely because of the Gallipoli disaster that Churchill came so near to being completely discredited in UK politics. If he had not been able to become PM in 1940, then Hitler might very well had gotten that deal he needed to get a free hand conquering Europe.
The UK desperately needs another similarly great PM! More and more the news I'm seeing from there tells me folly and catastrophic policies is driving it to utter ruin!
Ad astra! Sean
Sean,
I agree though for different reasons!
Paul.
Sean: Farage is probably going to be the next PM. You don't need a majority of votes to win a Parliamentary majority -- Starmer got a huge majority in Parliament with about a 1/3 of the votes.
You just need to come -first-.
I think that, in a General Election, people will be "conservative," i.e. will vote mainly for Labour OR Conservative OR not vote. However, I can be wrong. Times are changing big-time. It would be good to see our two party system smashed up even if that means increased turmoil for a while.
Kaor, Mr. Stirling and Paul!
Mr. Stirling: I agree there's a good chance Farage will become the next UK PM. The catastrophic woke policies which has been destroying the UK since Thatcher resigned has been provoking more and more rage and frustration (such as the Belfast riots). Both the Tories and Labour are dominated by either "wets" (Tories) or fanatical woke leftists (Labour). Both have eagerly let in millions of barbarians who are undermining the UK, in the teeth of outraged protest. I'm thinking of cases like the Muslim rape grooming gangs and the Heny Nowak case, and many more such things, all of which is stirring up rage.
Paul: Both Labour and a degenerate Conservative Party which has betrayed its former beliefs deserve to be swept away.
Ad astra! Sean
Sean,
The Belfast riots were caused by racism and are certainly not justified by a single act of violence. The Nowak case was also a single tragic act and was not occasioned by "millions of barbarians"(!) The far right used it as a pretext to riot. Most immigrants just want a better life here and many are indispensable to our National Health Service. Muslims have not been the only rapists or groomers and most Muslims are neither. The Labour Party is and has always been dominated by its right wing which accepts and makes massive concessions to anti-immigrant rhetoric.
Every time the anti-immigrant lobby demonstrates, we counter-demonstrate, usually with bigger numbers. Most British people accept pluralism and oppose racism but the media highlight Farage, Robinson etc. Life is indeed unpleasant but not for the reasons you suggest.
Paul.
Kaor, Paul!
Rejected. The cause, both in Belfast and the mainland UK has been outraged opposition to a hugely unpopular mass immigration of foreigners. "Racism" is an empty cuss word used to crush opposition to rightly hated policies.
Nor do I care that most Muslims in the UK are not rapists. Too many believe in savage and barbaric ideas, beliefs, and customs--such as jihadism, hatred of Jews, and Sharia law supremacism.
Ad astra! Sean
Sean,
Rejected. (Please can we stop expressing ourselves in such uncompromising terms? I don't, usually.)
There is no MASS immigration. It is heavily controlled and the authorities harass immigrants. Immigration is "unpopular" because professional politicians and the media make a continual issue of it. Acceptance of refugees and other immigrants is not RIGHTLY hated. Those who need refuge and/or want to work and contribute should be welcomed.
"Racism" is exactly what is going on here. Immigrants are scapegoated as the Jews were in Germany. They do not cause the cost of living crisis but it is all too easy to blame them especially when wealthy vested interests back demagogues. Musk backs Robinson!
You do not care that most Muslims are not rapists? They do not believe in savage or barbaric ideas or customs. Sharia law will never be enforced here! A minority of a minority support it.
Yes, unfortunately, there is anti-semitism and now all anti-Zionists are smeared with that label.
I think that you should retract that absurd "millions of barbarians" accusation?
Paul.
Kaor, Paul!
Sometimes I get angry, so I regret that word "Rejected."
I am going to continue to disagree, re "immigration." Everything I have seen/read in both the US/UK tells me have been seeing mass immigration, pushed by "elites" in the teeth of popular protest. Their stubborn refusal to make even the most moderate REAL accommodation to their peoples' views is what's driving the rise of new parties like Reform UK. I believe in the absolute right of sovereign nations setting strict terms and conditions for allowing in immigrants.
I have made some effort to study Islam, starting as long ago as the 1980's when I read Dawood's translation of the Koran. Islam teaches savage and barbaric beliefs. Including hatred of Jews. There are Muslims in the UK who demand Sharia law be enforced. And the more Muslims there are makes that more likely.
No, I stand by "millions of barbarians," because to allow in millions of foreigners with beliefs incompatible with those of the UK/West is asking for trouble, which is exactly what is happening.
Ad astra! Sean
Sean,
Is it literally millions that are coming in and are they all barbarians? Many of us welcome plurality of beliefs and we are in the majority. People have cost of living problems and immigrants are scapegoated for this. There was a pogrom - that cannot possibly be justified - in Belfast but now the majority is demonstrating against that hate.
I do not see how nation-states can have absolute rights. They are historically recent social institutions. However, individual human beings do have inalienable rights and unfortunately those rights are not universally respected. Deprivation and suffering are often treated with indifference and contempt. People fleeing from war or starvation and seeking a better life elsewhere are to be excluded? No way. That is not how the human race should operate. We cannot solve problems in one part of the world by increasing them in others. That makes everything worse, ultimately for everybody.
Paul.
