(i) I do not believe that gods literally exist.
(ii) I do believe that they are an important part of our imagination and that, in that sense, we would not exist without them.
(iii) We know Odin as a character in the Eddas and in works of fiction by Poul Anderson and Neil Gaiman.
(iv) Thor is mentioned in Anderson's War of The Gods and there are different versions of him in Gaiman's The Sandman and in Marvel Comics.
(v) We see the human originals of Odin and Thor in Anderson's The Golden Slave.
(vi) Although a Christian monotheist, CS Lewis gives a surprising degree of autonomy to Greek gods in Narnia and Ransom.
