Two Hotels

In the Solar Commonwealth period of Poul Anderson's Technic History, aliens stay in specially provided suites at the Hotel Universe in Lunograd.

In Robert Heinlein's The Star Beast, aliens stay in special suites at Hotel Universal on Earth and one of them is entertained by a juggler at the Club Cosmic.

It is after midnight on this part of Earth and I am trying to get to bed here but I keep reading a bit more and finding yet another parallel between fictional futures but this will have to be the last one until some time tomorrow. I mean later today.

Until then, go with God, as they say in James Blish's The Triumph Of Time, or at least with His sense of humour.

Kaor, Paul!

Yes, I believe God does have a sense of humor--some of the sayings of Christ in the Gospels shows Him as having a dry, understated se0nse of humor/irony. I also recall how the Book of Jonah has God treating His disobedient prophet with gentle Irony.

Or, as Steven Matuchek said at the very end of OPERATION CHAOS: "Lookng back, I often can't believe it happened: that this was done by a red-haired witch, a bob-tailed werewolf, and a snooty black tomcat. Then I remember it's the Adversary who is humorless. I'm sure God likes to laugh."

Merry Christmas! Sean

Appropriate quote.

Aliens stay in special suites if they have special physical needs. Adzel doesn't, for example -- he can tolerate earth-normal environments and he's broke when he's younger.

Kaor, Mr. Stirling!

True, but I'm sure Adzel found it comfortable and homelike to occasionally rent suites adjustable to conditions on Woden. After starting to work for Old Nick!

Merry Christmas! Sean
