Future Historical References

Poul Anderson's Harvest The Fire, Volume III of a future history, refers to:

"'...Guthrie's colony at Alpha Centauri...'" (CHAPTER 6, p. 110)

- and reminds its readers that:

"'Proserpina is here in the Solar System.'" (ibid.)

Anson Guthrie led the colonization of a Centaurian planet in Volume I, Harvest Of Stars. Lunarians learned of the asteroid, Proserpina, and decided to colonize it in Volume II, The Stars Are Also Fire. Later installments of a future history series build on earlier installments.

I keep trying to convey why I appreciate future histories so much. And one of many reasons to appreciate Poul Anderson is that he gives us so many future histories.
