Ramnuans call their planet's three moons Fathermoon, Mothermoon and Childmoon. Seems obvious, doesn't it?
Flandry's spaceship, Hooligan, has transported Yewwl and her party a long distance across Ramnu. Arrived, they meet tall, slender Ramnuans with differently colored fur, carrying human-made objects. When Yewwl opens and droops her vane to express incomprehension of a question, the male stranger addresses her in Anglic. He has less vocabulary and grammar then her and neither has a vocalizer but some communication is possible.
I have seen two Europeans of different nationalities communicating in English and wished that all three of us parolis Esperanton.
Kaor, Paul!
ReplyDeleteBut English is the real world "Esperanto" of our times. And I can well imagine an evolved form of English becoming "Anglic" in the future. And becoming the commonly used language of an interstellar civilization (if some other language doesn't displace it). A rootless "unreal" language like Esperanto will never be widely used.
