Flandry and his son:
sit on padded maroon benches;
see nacreous gray bulkheads;
drink Scotch whisky;
smoke cigarettes;
feel warm air;
hear dance music;
smell lilacs;
also see the blue full Terra near Luna against stars and darkness in a viewscreen.
Flandy's philosophy is enjoy decadence while it lasts. The message of the Technic History is that it will not last.
Kaor, Paul!
ReplyDeleteFlandry advocated sophisticated, refined decadence, not orgiastic wallowings!
