Letting Go

Three Examples From The Technic History
(i) In "The Saturn Game," two gamers must, as a matter of physical survival, permanently end their psychodrama by killing their dramatic characters. They experience death... See "The Saturn Game: Conclusion," here.

(ii) In A Knight Of Ghosts And Shadows, Aycharaych suffers the loss of the heritage that he has worked for centuries to preserve and probably opts to die with it - assuming that he has a choice in the matter.

(iii) Dominic Flandry wonders about Miriam Abrams' full sensory linkage with the Ramnuan, Yewwl:

"How deep into her soul does that linkage go? She can break it for a while without pain, but what if it broke forever?"
-A Stone In Heaven, IX, p. 129.

That question will be answered before the novel ends.

My recollection is that Miriam said her unique "sisterhood" with Yewwl came about when they were both young and perhaps a little reckless. I suspect that if they had been older when first meeting they would both had been more cautious and even wary about such a relationship.

  3. Kaor, Mr. Stirling!

Or the reverse kind of "foreshadowing" we call hindsight!
