Truth to say, the idea summarized by Paul in the first paragraph, as used by writers such as Asimov and Anderson, is not believable, soberly examined. Because human affairs are far too chaotic to be manipulated so easily by Asimovian psychohistorians or Andersonian psychotechnicians. Or by the algorithms used by You Tube.<br /><br />Human histories and societies can be examined and it might be possible to detect patterns or phases in them, which is about all that can be achieved.
